Soline settlement is situated directly by the sea, under the Adriatic Highway, 12 kilometers from Dubrovnik, 8 kilometers north of Cavtat and only 10 kilometers from the Dubrovnik airport. It is worth noting that there are several settlements in Croatia that are called Soline, so we have Soline near Sali on Dugi Otok, Soline near Bosiljevo, Karlovac, Soline near Dobrinja on the island Krk, and Soline we just mentioned, that belong to the Župa dubrovačka (Parish of Dubrovnik) area. Soline was named after the salt pans, which were said to have stood here in the past. There is a small church of St. Nicholas built for the patron of sailors. The church of St. Nichols was built in two phases, the first dating to the 14th and the 15th century with Gothic features, while the second phase is an upgrade from the 18th century. If you opt for a tranquil vacation, the right spot for you is staying in private accommodation, apartments and rooms in Soline. Mediterranean vegetation, crystal clear sea and fine gravel beaches are a perfect escape from everyday life and crowds. Besides swimming, sunbathing and walking, we recommend a visit to the nearby settlements or Mlini Plat (where the closest hotel is) and the old town of Dubrovnik and Cavtat.
